Small groups are a very effective way for new members to become active in the church. Oftentimes, people joining a new church, especially a larger one, can feel a sense of "not belonging". Having small groups can enable them to take a small step towards becoming engaged, which invariably leads to them becoming a fully functioning member...which is good for the body as a whole.
